  • Catnip can be used to encourage play and exploration or as a training aid. Place a small amount of catnip on your cat’s scratching post to encourage scratching.

  • A third of cats do not inherit a sensitivity to nepetalactone (the essential oil found in catnip) so your cat may not have any reaction. Kittens don't develop the ability to react to catnip until they are around three to six months of age.
