SCRATCHER AT HOME
Here’s a couple of tips to encourage your cat to scratch its CLAWS scratcher and not the couch!
Location is so important - try placing it in an area that your cat already likes to spend time. A sunny spot by a window is a good bet or next to the couch.
If your cat likes catnip it can be used as a training aid. Try sprinkling a little on the base or rub some into the carpet to entice them over.
Use their favourite toys to encourage play near the scratcher and make sure to reward them with treats when they do start to use it.
It may take some patience and trial and error before your cat takes to its scratcher but try to persist - it’s worth it in the long run!

CARE
As much as your cat wants to rip this scratcher to bits, with a little care you can extend its life and keep it looking its best.
Base
The plywood base has been finished with Osmo oil which is dirt and water resistant. However, if the timber is starting to look like it could do with a little clean use a soft damp cloth.
Dust, lint or animal hair can be removed with a vacuum.
Avoid using regular household detergents as overtime these may break down the oil finish.
Carpet
Do not position it directly next to a heater as this may impact the glue used to hold the carpet causing it to fail.
Trim loose fibres with scissors to keep it looking tidy. Top tip: use a good quality razor and shave away any loose fibres!
Vacuum regularly to pick up any fluff or fibres.
